Hockey BD Role
Players, Parents, Coaches, and the Coaldale Minor Hockey Board What are their roles?
The purpose of this document is to briefly outline the roles of these groups,
within Coaldale Minor Hockey, for the benefit of all.
Players:
As ambassadors of the Coaldale community, Coaldale Minor Hockey players shall conduct themselves appropriately at all functions, both on and off the ice. This includes practices, games, tournaments, banquets, and any function where team members are present.
- Demonstrate respect for themselves, teammates, coaches, officials, opposing players, and Coaldale
Minor Hockey
- Abide by the rules as set out by the coaches, officials, league, and Coaldale Minor Hockey
Parents:
- Support and encourage their players by: demonstrating respect for the “army” of volunteers engaged in
Coaldale Minor Hockey operations – including coaches, officials, and opposing players
- Abide by and respect team decisions
- Encourage and strive for full participation of your player at all functions both on and off the ice
- Always remember, we are not only developing players, but also coaches, referees and countless
volunteers
Coaches:
- Encourage, support and develop all players
- Conduct a preseason meeting to introduce your coaching staff and develop a common strategy for
team success
- As key examples to the players, coaches must conduct themselves accordingly in all situations on and
off the ice
- Promote players’ growth, participation, education and development
Board:
- Create and promote a safe and fun environment for players to develop hockey skills while learning to
love to play Canada’s game: Hockey
- Oversee and ensure the operation of Coaldale Minor Hockey by engaging volunteers at all levels
- Deal proactively with conflicts, complaints and issues that arise from time to time
- Promote the continuation, improvement, and expansion of Coaldale Minor Hockey and our facilities
